I googled Tofan Taeri and got three results. My Homepage and my two bloggs. Since I’m moving my bloggs to wordpress from blogger – the total of results; shouldn’t it become five?
If originality is measured by the amount of hits on google (isn’t it?) then my name is very original. =)
A great video clip made by an assistant professor of cultural anthropology, professor Wesch. It was posted more than a month ago and has accumulated more than 1,7 million views at youtube + another interesting video response. However, it’s the Wesch video that picks up where I left of.
I’m back on track after a little detour, and the Wesch video visualises my project goals very well. Explaining the motor behind the paradigm changes – with no fuss included – with easy and entertaining language.
There will be more posting, aiming for atleast once a week for the Taeri blog. Other webprojects should also get (more) flowing.
I’m also experimenting between wordpress and blogger. But for now I’m working mainly with blogger (switched to wordpress).
Sidetrack. Michael Moore set the way for the golden age of American documentaries. Quicktime trailers from some upcoming and now running documentaries below.
Sidetrack. Krumping is an aggressive, expressive and energetic urban dance. It originated in South Central LA from clowning; created by Tommy the clown 1992. Krumpers move so fast it’s like they are on meth. The best source available on krumping is Dave Chapelles movie Rize. Because you have to see krumping for yourself. You can’t read about it. Quoting krump legend Lil C:
Once you see the real thing, you’re gonna know it’s the real thing. You’re gonna know. You’re gonna be like: “That has to be the real thing, because I will never see anything like this again.”
How I’m going to link Krumping to Krav Maga is: they are both very effective new styles. As a dance and as a martial art form. Krav, that originated in Israel, is not about taolu (forms – in lack of a better word – that you practice in the air) like Kung Fu. Unlike other martial arts like Thai and Jiu Jutsu you can’t compete in Krav. Krav is designed to disable/terminate your opponent as quickly and effectively as possible. No fuss included. Compare with Krumping that is designed to channel as much energy and frustration as possible. Krumping is created to be a fast ticket to both relief and entertainment at the same time. There are no pirouettes, fouettés or arabesques in Krumping. Just explosive rhythmic motion.
The style changes, believe it or not, every day. Every day, the style changes. And if you haven’t danced in two days, if you come to a krump session, we’re gonna know. -Lil C in Rize
The second characteristic of the two styles is rapid reinvention. Imi Lichtenfeld began developing Krav Maga in the 1930s. After 1948 when Israel became a state, Krav Maga became a trademark of the Israeli police and military forces. Since combat premises constantly change, so must Krav Maga to remain efficient.
I’m not saying other martial arts forms aren’t efficient. Or that other dance forms haven’t changed/are changing through time. But Krumping and Krav Maga define the new modernism. They strive for maximum effect and rapid reinvention. No traditions and nothing conservative here. The third characteristic is their simplicity.
While Krumping is just another way of storytelling it’s harder to acknowledge Krav Maga as storytelling.
This is our ghetto ballet. This is how we express ourselves. This is the only way we see fit of storytelling. -Dragon in Rize
Other martial art forms can be, by any means, different ways of expressing oneself. But since Krav is strictly focused on disabling the opponent in the most simple way possible – with no shows and no contests – it’s neither a sport nor a way of storytelling.
copyriot.blogspot.com :: The blog of one of Piratbyråns spokespersons. In my opinion: the best blogger in the world when it comes to copyright and informatisation. But, alas, Rasmus blog is in Swedish too.
My project is: writing a book about copyright and the need for it’s removal. Due to be finished summer 2007. It will be written in English. Since English isn’t my first language I would appreciate all the help with grammar and spelling I can get. I live in Sweden, but Farsi is my first language.
There will be three major categories for posts.
Project: Matters concerning the project in a clear and direct way.
Sidetrack: Other subjects that concern the project indirectly.
Language: This blog is an excellent opportunity to work with my English language and some posts will just concern my language skills.
The main idea for the book is simplicity. Drawing on more advanced references and making them simple. Reduce, reduce, reduce. Think Hardt and Negri. Then think fiction meets non-fiction.
taeri.blogspot.com is 2Fan Taeris (me) blog. It will be divided into two phases. The first will be during the creation of the project. And the second phase, the reason this blog is initiated, is the post-project phase. More info on the project and its producer will be up soon.
